One of the best things about being in a new area is the opportunity to enjoy new restaurants. As you know, we’re foodies and we were excited to try this restaurant in Brooksville.
Since we moved to Brooksville, we have eaten at Chop Block Grill three times; once for lunch and twice for dinner. Every meal featured a unique take on familiar food and specialized in deliciousness.
We were very early for dinner the last time we stopped in to Chop Block Grill. Having looked at the menu online, we knew we both wanted the pork chop with a bowl of soup.
Within a few minutes of ordering, we were served warm garlic breadsticks. The breadstick alone did not stand out as unique, but the lovely garlic and butter sauce did. Yum. We finished these off pronto.

Next, we were served our soup. At a notch above, the French onion soup was what one would expect. The broth was rich, with the right ratio of nicely sized onions to croutons. Often there is too much stringy mozzarella in some servings of French onion soup. Not so with this version. We enjoyed every spoonful.
After our soup, we were served our entrees including two heaping portions of Au gratin potatoes and two beautiful bone-in pork chops. Au gratin potatoes are one of my favorites. Al enjoys them but I order them whenever given the chance. The amount of cheese was plentiful and creamy, giving the perfectly cooked Au gratin potatoes a rich flavor.

When we were served our entrees, we saw a stack of purple onions on our pork chops. We both were sure the onions would overwhelm the flavors of the pork. We needn’t have worried. The onions that Grill Chef Flaco prepared must have been gently sauteed. Somehow they were not crunchy, nor were they too soft. The flavor was outstanding. The 14-ounce Porterhouse pork chop was seasoned to perfection and broiled with an apple butter topping that paired so well with the flavors of the chop. The chops were about an inch thick and cooked with just the right amount of color to the meat. We both enjoyed the blend of flavors. It was a wonderful chop.

The next time we go to Chop Block Grill, we will ask for a side of apple butter sauce and use it to dip each succulent piece of pork chop into this flavorful addition to our entrees. The perfectly cooked, seasoned, and juicy pork chop, coupled with the sauteed onions, all mixed in with an amazing apple butter topping made for the hearty flavors rushing through our mouths with each bite. Neither one of us could finish the large pork chop nor the potato serving, so we both took the remainder home for the next day.
Of the three meals we enjoyed at Chop Block Grill, each was of excellent caliber. The chefs are highly skilled in their trade and we highly recommend this restaurant. Owner and Head Chef Eric Gallery provides all of the prepared recipes and oversees the fine food served. Chop Block Grill is the real deal.
